Discovery Science Center (DSC), Future Scientists and Engineers of America (FSEA) and The Boeing Company (Boeing) team up to offer a free day of hands-on science and family fun at the 19th annual Rocket Launch on Saturday, May 19th, from 9:00 a.m. 2 p.m. The event will be taking place on Boeings Huntington Beach campus.
The community is invited to design, build and launch their own rockets made of two-liter plastic soda bottles. Dont know how to build a rocket? No problem, visit the Ask an Engineer table for some expert advice. By using a combination of pressurized air and water for propulsion, the rockets launch and deploy a parachute. The competition will consist of creating and launching a bottle water rocket (yes, you will get wet) and the payload with the longest hang time in the air wins!
In addition, Rocket Launch will also feature live science stage shows, learning stations and more. Make sure to bring an appetite because some of Southern Californias top gourmet food trucks will be in attendance.
Discovery Science Centers Rocket Launch is designed to be a day of fun and excitement for the entire family, states Joe Adams, President and CEO of DSC. The goal is to get kids excited about building rockets with their family, while interacting with real engineering students and professionals from Boeing.
